הירח החדש של חודש אלול והאחרון של שנת התשפ"ד צפוי להיראות ביום רביעי לאחר השקיעה (אור לב' באלול) בתאריך 4-9-2024. הראייה לא קלה ודורשת תצפית במקום טוב עם אופק נקי. נכנסנו לעונה בה העננות בערב מרובה ולכן מקומות ליד הים פחות מוצלחים, למרות שניתן לראות בהם שקיעות יפות מאד כפי שתוכלו להתרשם בהמשך
יכול להיות ששמעתם את המונח סופרמון בהקשר של הירח המלא שהיה ויהיה. זה מונח כלשהו אבל די חסר משמעות וכתבתי כבר לפני כמה שנים מאמר בנושא המפרט את כל העניין.
חשוב לציין כי באמצע חודש אלול, יהיה ליקוי לבנה זעיר שיראה גם מישראל בשעות הבוקר, ארחיב על כך בפוסט סיכום ראיית הירח.

Hello All.
We would like to inform you that the new moon of Elul, which marks the final month of the year 5784, is expected to occur on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, following sunset. Please note that this will not be an easily visible sighting, and therefore a suitable observation location will be necessary.
You may have been aware of the recent media attention surrounding the "Supermoon" phenomenon, which affects both the previous and upcoming months. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify our stance on this term, which we believe is misleading and devoid of scientific significance. For those interested in learning more, we recommend referring to an article written 12 years ago by me that provides a detailed debunking of this myth.
Moving forward, the next full moon will feature a minor lunar eclipse visible from Israel, scheduled to take place on September 18, 2024, during the early morning hours. Further details regarding this event will be provided in our forthcoming summary report.
